- Steiff could not find an original PB55, so they painstakingly researched all pictures of the bear, and x-rayed a monkey that was produced the same year and was pictured with PB55 to see how it was jointed and stuffed. They were so proud with this achievement that they include in the box a small information book on exactly how they made PB55.
- Made in mohair from the fur of the angora goat, fully string jointed and stuffed with wood shavings
- He stands 55cm tall, He wears a gold-plated button in ear, with an individually numbered white tag. All of the noses are made of Hard Black wax and the shape can vary bear to bear some have flattened angles on them, all need good homes to go to.
